Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (2011, 2012, 2013)
NapaSan received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for fiscal years (FY) 2010-11, 2011-12, and 2012-13. In addition to audited financial statements, the CAFR also contains a discussion and analysis of NapaSan’s financial performance during the previous fiscal year, and statistical information about NapaSan. This additional information is designed to make it easier for the general public to read and understand the financial statements.
Organizational Excellence Award – California Association of Sanitation Agencies (2011)
NapaSan earned this award for its Performance Measurement Report, which assesses key attributes of the organization. This process helps NapaSan determine what it is doing well and also areas to focus on for improvement. The CASA award recognizes both of these components: successful management and also the ability to identify deficiencies and focus management efforts there.
Distinguished Budget Presentation Award – Government Finance Officers Association (2010, 2011, 2012)
A public agency budget can be an endless array of tables filed with numbers that perplexes all but the financially savvy. NapaSan’s budget format attempts to turn that concept around, creating a document that presents the numbers clearly while including a narrative that explains the budget process, outlines operations and sets goals for the fiscal year. For this effort, NapaSan was awarded a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
National Recognition Award for Engineering Excellence - American Council of Engineering Companies (2009)
This recognition was given to NapaSan and Winzler & Kelly Consulting Engineers for the North Napa Bypass Sewer Siphon Project. This project involved designing and building a siphon to carry wastewater under the Napa River on its way to the treatment plant. The inverted siphon design utilizes a 38 foot vertical drop that provides pressure to push the wastewater through the pipe under the river and up the other side. This siphon eliminated the need for two pump stations, resulting in a reduction of 110,000 kWh/year of power usage and over 50,000 pounds/year reduction in greenhouse gases.
CASA Achievement Award (2003)
In recognition of its continued technological advancement, effective wastewater management and outstanding service, NapaSan in partnership with Carollo Engineers, was honored by the California Association of Sanitation Agencies (CASA) with its 2003 Associates Achievement Award.
In 1990, the NapaSan began the process of consolidating its treatment facilities at the Soscol Treatment Plant and hired Carollo Engineers to work with them on this extensive project. NapaSan and Carollo Engineers created a design that not only consolidated the two existing treatment systems but also allowed production of high quality recycled water for reuse. This consolidation was completed in 2001.
