NSD Replaces Pipeline Under Third Street

January  10, 2013

The Napa Sanitation District begins work this week to replace approximately 100 feet of sewer main in Third Street between Jefferson Street and Seminary Street. The pipe being replaced is made of clay, and was installed in 1906.

The sewer main replacement project begins about 100 feet east of Jefferson Street and ends about 200 feet east of Jefferson Street. No street closure is anticipated, but traffic will be detoured around the work zone. Work will begin on Friday, January 11, 2013 and should be completed by the end of next week.

The work schedule is as follows:

Friday January 11: Sawcut the street to access old sewer pipe.
Monday, January 14: Removal of asphalt, old concrete road bed, old railroad tracks and railroad ties.
Tuesday, January 15: Pipe replacement begins.

This project is necessary in order to replace a section of pipe that is in very poor condition. To learn more about the District’s Sewer Collection System and maintenance activities, visit www.NapaSan.com/Facilities/Sewer Collection System.
